The Support Assignment

When I think of the word “support” I think of helping somebody. Doesn't matter if it is something little, or big. Support comes from the Latin word, which means to “carry.” It’s a powerful word that cultivates relationships, and brings peace to others during hard times.   Sometimes we tend to stress too much and worry about the near future.   I feel that it is the people you surround yourself with, which brings the best out in you. Through thick and thin, the people that have come into your life have been placed there for a reason. Their love for you manifests, and the admiration that people have for you brings more comfort in your time of need. I have an assignment for you to do (If you're willing) The first part of this assignment is to read this story, and take it in. The next part is to reach out to those who have supported you. They can be your parents, brother or sister, extended family members, friends, teachers, colleagues at work, boyfriend, girlfriend, wife,...

Different Interpretations of the Heart

If you’ve ever read Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein,” you might be able to see different interpretations of how the story is portrayed. Reading about the misunderstood Monster always filled my heart with sadness, and guilt. I guess you could say that the sadness came from how the monster was mistreated, when he encountered De Lacey (The Blind Man) and his family. I think at times we forget that teenage-students feel alone. What De Lacey was trying to do, was to teach the Monster how to use his heart and learn from his feelings. As teacher, you can choose a topic from a book and create a lesson. If you’r...

Create What You Want

What do you want out of life? Isn’t that the million-dollar question?   I use to think that having a specific job, or a title with distinction use to mean something. That it would put you on the top of a pedestal, and you would be glorified for what you are. I later realized, through a little bit of humility and failure, the title doesn’t mean that much. The performance and the integrity of the job is more than a title. Along with the integrity of the job, maybe we are constantly wondering where will we land. Where are we supposed to leave our mark? I went to college with many individuals who prided themselves on becoming something that would make them successful. I as well felt the same way. In education, there is always one teacher that changes the course of a student’s direction, and makes an impact. As the students grow older and later become teachers (for those who choose), they want to be just like that one teacher who embodied the characteristics of being the best tea...
